Project: Improved chimeric antigen receptor T-cell designs for optimized therapy of genetically defined B-cell malignancies.

Host Institution: CEITEC MASARYK UNIVERSITY
Country of Origin: Slovakia
Previous Workplace: Spain

TOPIC OF MY RESEARCH:

In the course of my scientific career, I gradually became interested in translational research. Towards the end of my PhD, I became passionate about studying alternative treatment options and I decided to further pursue this research direction during my postdoctoral studies. That is the reason why I decided to set up and optimize Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy in CEITEC.

WHY I HAVE CHOSEN THE TOPIC:

This is a breakthrough immunotherapeutic approach, which has a potential to revolutionize the treatment options of many difficult-to-treat patients.

USE OF THE PROJECT RESULTS IN PRACTICE:

In my SoMoPro project, I will on one hand evaluate the functionality of several CAR designs while studying associations between distinct tumor types and the response to CAR treatment in both in vitro and in vivo disease models. By these means, the project aims to generate CAR designs for direct application in immunotherapy as well as to uncover novel predictive biomarkers of therapy outcome and to set the base for a more personalized CAR T-cell therapy.

WHY SOMOPRO

SoMoPro fellowship is a prestigious funding that will allow me to implement my own independent cutting-edge research plan under the supervision of internationally respected scientists. Thus, it will greatly enrich my expertise and improve my future career opportunities.
