Plasma-modified MXene-loaded scaffolds for simultaneous osteosarcoma therapy and bone tissue engineering

Lector: doc. RNDr. Tomáš Homola, Ph.D.

About the project

Osteosarcoma is an aggressive bone tumor that predominantly affects young people under the age of 19. Standard therapy methods such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not always effective and often cause serious side effects. Some cases require complicated surgeries; sometimes even amputation is needed. This subject develops nanomaterial systems that combine anticancer photothermal therapy with support for bone tissue regeneration for effective and gentle treatment.

Why science?

I do science because I love discovering new things and satisfying my curiosity. This job also provides room for creativity.

What do I like most about Brno

I like Brno for its perfect size, it’s not too big or overwhelming, yet still comfortable for everyday life. It also offers an excellent atmosphere for scientific work, mainly due to its four renowned universities and lively academic community.
