Cellular and Spheroid Mechanical Characterisation by Modification of Selective Plane Illumination Microscopy

Lector: Ing. Tomáš Vičar, Ph.D.

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine

Field: Pathological Physiology

About the project

Mechanical properties of cells and their changes play an important role in many physiological processes, but also in various diseases, like cardiovascular diseases or cancer. This project aims to assess the mechanical properties of cancer cells (in 2D and 3D cultures) by integrating the flow and compression system into SPIM microscopy. Results could contribute to the improvement of treatment strategies for invasive types of cancer and to the development of novel antimigratory anticancer drugs.

Why science?

The scientific environment allows me to work on interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with experts from different fields. This enables me to acquire a wide range of new knowledge and enhance my skills across multiple areas.
