Preparation, optimization and functionalization of reduced graphene oxide aerogels via DCSBD for electric applications

Lector: RNDr. Richard Krumpolec, PhD.

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Plasma Physiscs

About the project

My project deals with graphene, which is so called "wonder" material that has many exceptional properties. My focus is on bringing innovation in producing and funcionalizing graphene in a way, that is suitable for industrial scale applications for primarily green technologies such as solar cells or batteries. I'm using unique type of electrical plasma source called Diffuse Coplanar Surface Barrier Discharge that was developed at our department.

Why science?

Since childhood, I loved to watch science and technogy documentaries, that were predicting technological revolution based on nanotechnologies that will start during the 2020s. Therefore, my academic path was predetermined from childhood, since science and pushing boundaries of known knowledge was the only thing that I wanted to do due to my curious nature about the workings of the world around us. Now I have the oportunity to be at the forefront of this nanotechnology revolution.

What do I like most about Brno

I like about Brno mostly the atmosphere it has. There are not many cities in the world where more than one fifth of the population are university students. Moreover, thanks to such a hign concentration of young minds, a lot of oportunities are present in Brno in plethora of scientific fields. This is suitable for people who crave for oportunity to excell in any field they are interested in.
