Feasibility study of applicability of a novel low-pressure plasma source for supporting air-breathing electric propulsion system

Lector: Adam Obrusník

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Plasma Physics

About the project

Air breathing electric propulsion is an interesting and promising technology, which enable cheaper and more environmentally friendly way of operating spacecraft and satellites in very low Earth orbit. This technology would also address very pressing issue of space debris. However, most important part of this technology is still missing - a plasma source capable of operating In VLEO conditions. In this project, I will assess a capability of a novel low-pressure plasma source for supporting ABEP.

Why science?

I was always interested in deeper understanding of natural phenomena around me. For this reason, it was natural for me to pursue career in science.

What do I like most about Brno

Brno has the perfect size for a student city. Not so large you have spend hours every day, traveling from place to place, not too small to get bored.
