Dental pulp stem cells properties in vivo

Lector: Mgr. Eva Švandová Ph.D.

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine

Field: Biomedical Sciences

About the project

In recent years, dentistry aims to shift from the artificial resumption to natural regeneration using stem cells. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) were shown to provide potential for reparative strategies of dental and peri-dental tissue. The majority of knowledge of DPSCs was generated from in vitro experiments. This in vivo focused project will help properly understand the stem cell microenvironment and also supply in vitro based knowledge, needed for their prospective medical applications.

Why science?

Because there won't be a future without science. What I enjoy the most about science (and paradoxically, sometimes find very challenging) is the endless pursuit of knowledge and understanding. You constantly have the opportunity to educate yourself, read literature, try more and more experiments, attempt to find connections between individual results, and piece them together into something meaningful that could contribute to the future of society.

What do I like most about Brno

The friendly atmosphere of a small town, the possibilities of a big city, great coffee on every corner, a rich gastronomic scene that any larger city envies, beautiful architecture and much more. I love Brno.
