The Study of the Interactions between the Amyloid Beta Peptide and Small Molecules by Molecular Dynamics and Artificial Intelligence

Lector: Stanislav Mazurenko

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Environmental Health Sciences

About the project

The Amyloid beta peptide is believed to be the key player in the onset of the Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, the study of this peptide and its interactions with small molecules could have a great impact on the treatment of the disease. The main challenge of studying Amyloid beta comes from the fact that it is a disordered protein - as such it lacks a fixed structure. We approach the problem using simulations of the molecular dynamics and machine learning for consecutive analysis.

Why science?

I see career in science as a good way to have a positive impact on society while working on interesting problems, enjoying the satisfaction of understanding (some) stuff and having the space to develop wide range of skills.

What do I like most about Brno

I enjoy the student nature of the town - demonstated by the abundance of cafes, pubs and sport facilities. Furthermore, the town has a rich cultural scene with great theatres and many events happening all the time.
