FATE OF CURRENTLY USED PESTICIDES IN THE ATMOSPHERIC ENVIRONMENT

Lector: Prof. Gerhard Lammel

Institution: Masaryk University, Faculty of Science

Field: Environmental Health Sciences

About the project

Current-use pesticides (CUPs) replaced legacy pesticides as they were proven to be toxic. However new evidences show that CUPs may also be toxic and prone to long-range atmospheric transport. The main aim of this project is to improve the current knowledge on the environmental fate of current-use pesticides in regard to the atmospheric compartment and their potential for long-range atmospheric transport. The PESPAT study is the largest one ever done at the global scale using active air sampler

Why science?

I believe that my future will be divided between research and teaching. Research as it is simply the goal I have always had since I started University. I have also had an inclination toward teaching, I think it is gratifying to stand in front of people, share knowledge and reflect on it with them. As to where I see myself, anywhere really, I would happily stay here or go somewhere else.

What do I like most about Brno

I am from a small city, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the same kind of vibe in Brno. it was very comforting at first, to not feel lost in the mechanical jungle of a big city. Now, I consider Brno as my home! I also thoroughly enjoy the public transport system, which is reliable and very efficient.
