Topology optimization of line-start synchronous machines

Lector: Ing. Jan Bárta, Ph.D.

Institution: Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication

Field: Power Systems and Power Electronics

About the project

This project deals with the topology optimization (TO) based on the normalized Gaussian network of line-start synchronous machines. TO can lead to a reduction in energy consumption worldwide thanks to the higher efficiency of optimized electrical machines. The project aims to develop the methodology of TO for line-start synchronous machines. The methodology will use the evaluation algorithm, which leads to a reduction in computational time due to the preselection of unfeasible geometries.

Why science?

After I finish my doctoral studies, I would like to find a postdoc position focusing on the optimization of rotating electrical machines. In 10 years, I wish to be a member (or leader) of a research group focusing on the research and development of electrical machines in the Czech Republic, preferably in Brno. I will use all the gained experience for further development of electrical machines in order to contribute worldwide efforts to reduce energy consumption.

What do I like most about Brno

There are many people full of potential and ambition to make the world a better place through science in Brno, some of the most prestigious universities in the Czech Republic are located here. Moreover, Brno offers these people many great places and a good atmosphere. Also, I enjoy gastronomy in the city.
