The aim of the project is to prepare functionalized collagen-based skin substitutes as an alternative to currently used approaches in healing severe skin wounds (e.g. skin grafting). Our idea is to fabricate porous collagenous material enriched with bioactive substances offering various beneficial properties – selenium nanoparticles (antibacterial properties), chitosan (antibacterial and healing properties), fibroblasts growth factors (healing and anti-scaring properties).
