The problems solved in arterial biomechanics are very challenging due to a complex structure of an arterial wall. The aim of our research group is an extension of the classical computational model of the artery in human body. My task is to exploit and compare the microstructure of both pathological and healthy carotid arteries. The ultimate goal of my project will be the evaluation of the global and local directions of collagen fibers, the dispersion in the fiber directions and their waviness.
