O mém projektu
The project aims to evaluate bat interaction with harbored viruses. Despite the fact that bat-borne viruses include causative agents of diseases lethal to humans, we lack information about the virus-bat interaction. The project will investigate changes in the bat cellular response to pathogen, specifically under conditions simulating hibernation, as well as the genetic variability that might influence outcome of infection by viruses in bats in comparison to different mammal host species. The outcome of the project will supplement the current knowledge of bat-borne viruses and their molecular interaction with the host and could represent a foundation for further in vitro research of molecular interactions in different virus hosts.
