Microfluidic-based vasculature model to study shear stress related pathophysiology

The project is aimed on construction of a unique model to study a shear stress related pathology of vascular system. We plan to use microfluidic chips with channels having circular cross-section colonised with endothelial cells. The cell response to flow will be characterized by cell morphology expression of proinflammatory markers (immunocytochemistry, RT-qPCR) and optional determination of cytokine secretion by ELISA. The proinflammatory status of cells and flow pattern will be correlated.
