Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common childhood cancer. The recent improvement of clinical protocols lead the 5 year survival rate to 85%; nevertheless, ALL remains the major cause of cancer-related death in childhood. Thus, it is necessary to identify new biomarkers for the patient risk stratification and targeted therapy. Recently, the introduction of next generation sequencing offers a new and innovative strategy for the molecular dissections of ALL and a new tool for patient risk stratifications.
