O mém projektu
Number of antibiotic-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus increases throughout the world. Staphylococcal phages have been therefore studied as an alternative treatment of S. aureus infections. In my research, I focus on the Receptor binding protein 1 (RBP1), from the staphylococcal phage phi812K1/420. RBP1 plays a crucial role in high virulency of the phage. I employ X-crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy to characterise structure and function of the RBP1 in detail.
