The proposed project deals with the bioavailability of metals (arsenic and mercury) in soil and water environment using the diffusive gradient in thin film technique (DGT). In this technique, the process of metal uptake by biota is simulated by a diffusive gel membrane followed by accumulation of metal in a sorption gel. The aim of this project will be the evaluation, the optimisation and utilisation of new sorption gels for determination of bioavailable toxic metals (As, Hg) in various components of environment.
