It is well-known that early diagnostics of malignant diseases greatly improves chances of successful treatment.Electrochemical techniques offer fast detection times and relatively inexpensive and simple instrumentation. Other advantage is a possibility of parallel detection at miniaturized electrode chips. Considering above-mentioned reasons, I propose a methodological project, with the aim to develop EC assays for detection of nucleic acids important in current cancer research, with emphasis on cervical cancer. This especially includes detection of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA, as well as microRNAs which are aberrantly expressed during carcinogenesis.
