Programs for high school students

1. Support for talented students

The program is focused on support and self-education of talented students from the first year of high school up to the bachelor's degree at the university level. The talented students can participate on the system for up to seven years in total.

The support is provided in the form of funds linked to the personal account from which the allowed expenses related to the self-education may be reimbursed to the student (e.g. course fees, travel expenses and tutor′s reward, etc.). In case of the university students the funds are awarded in the form of scholarships (a direct payment on behalf of the student′s account).

2. High school research projects

This project supports the education in natural sciences, technology and humanities and encourages students to undertake research activities and to practical use of knowledge. The program aims to engage talented students in scientific activities and to perfect their knowledge and skills.

Students have the opportunity to elaborate a paper (compilation or experimental) under the guidance of an expert. The student works on a given topic under the supervision of his or her tutor, a university teacher or a researcher, and the work is carried out directly at the tutor′s institution.

At the national level the evaluation of the research projects is coordinated by the National Institute of Children and Youth. We ensure the offer of research projects and their subsequent financial support in the region. The financial contribution allows to cover the costs associated with the training of the students, the cost of material and the reward for tutors.

3. Talented youth in the South Moravian region

The project seeks to extend the range of extracurricular activities for talented high school students (with special educational needs) in the South Moravian region and to increase the efficiency of the existing regional support system for talents.

The project also addresses the lack of support programs and practices in working with talented youth for the teachers at the South Moravian secondary schools. Namely it aims at improving the cooperation and support of high school teachers engaged in working with talented students and the centralization of information on activities for talented students, about working with talents and the opportunities for further education for high school teachers.

The project, co-funded by the European Social Fund, offers the following activities:

Currently you can participate in "Activities for high school students" and "Internship for high school students at universities" and we are preparing other two activities, "E-learning courses" and "T-excursions and interdisciplinary competition".

Programs for university students

We provide scholarships for students at bachelor's degree within the "Support for talented students" program.

4. Brno Ph.D. Talent

This program supports outstanding doctoral students of technical and scientific fields enrolled at our partner universities.

The scholarships represent a financial contribution to cover the cost of living of selected Ph.D. students. The aim of the program is to improve their living conditions so that they can concentrate fully on their studies and to encourage graduates of Master's degree to pursue their postgraduate studies in Brno.

The program is part of the Regional Innovation Strategy 3 and is financially supported by the Brno Municipality.

Programs for international students

5. Scholarships for international students

Our oldest program is aimed at encouraging international mobility of students from outside the EU (South-East and Eastern Europe in particular) who are interested in studying at one of our partner universities in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. The support takes the form of starting scholarships (support during the first year of study in Brno), assistance in applying to the chosen university and continuous service during your stay in Brno. In collaboration with our partner universities we provide courses of Czech language for the scholarship holders.

We have established contacts in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia and recently also in Ukraine. JCMM also contributed to the opening of a lectorship of the Czech language at the University of Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina. From the academic year 2009/2010 there are two lectorates of Czech language funded directly by JCMM - one is in Luhansk in Ukraine and second in Izevsk in Russia. Other collaborating partners are the Office of the Region of South Moravia in Kragujevac and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sarajevo.

Programs for researchers

6. Program SoMoPro

SoMoPro is a regional grant program that supports the inflow of foreign scientists and reintegration of Czech scientists. The program offers grants that will finance the placement of experienced researchers at research institutions in the South Moravian region. The research training should last from 1 to 3 years.

SoMoPro represents a regional analogy to Marie Curie incoming and reintegration fellowships (IIF, IEF a IRG). The program, in its pilot phase, is scheduled for a period of 4 years (2009-2013) and it is financed by regional public sources (Region of South Moravia) and co-financed by the Marie Curie actions (COFUND).

The application and evaluation procedures are administrated by the South Moravian Centre for International Mobility. The final distribution of grants (signature of grant agreements with the host institutions) is fully in competence of The Region of South Moravia, which is the Programme Coordinator.
